i used to be able to code my esp8266's trough arduino IDE with no problems, but since updating to sierra my esp8266 reboots my mac and its stuck in the screen with the chineese letters untill i unplug the USB for my esp unit.
this happends both on my imac late 2013 and on my new macbook
the chip is CH340G
it happens to 3 different boards with the same chip.

I am running into a similar problem myself. When I plug it into my Mid 2013 Macbook Air, I get a kernel panic and it restarts my mac. This is caused due to the restriction of not letting unsigned drivers being able to be accepted into the new OS. Hopefully there may be updates on the CH340 drivers in being signed 😟
Signed CH340 drivers have been available for a long time. The latest version was released by the chipset manufacturer late last month. Go to: http://www.wch.cn/download/CH341SER_MAC_ZIP.html
i did install those, i even tried it again, but as soon as i plug my board in, the imac reboots.. it worked 30 minutrs ago in El Capitan, but after the update and reboot it kernel panics every time
