Where is the dictionary folder in Sierra

Please try to explain , what are you looking for , the app can be located by clicking on finder > Applications > select dictionary , right click on it > open and type any word in the search field to see its meaning , or some use Launch pad to view or press command + space bar on the keyboard and type dictionary to get open .

Never added dictionaries in user library .

If you enter user library > search for Dictionary folder and click on its subfolders they are all locked by default as users sometimes try to change the settings in subfolders .

Simple method is open dictionary preferences , choose the desired dictionary and download it and use it in a routine way .

If there is a fault in the app , take back up of all data , clean the hard drive and reinstall the OS ( finding different solutions can corrupt the system ).

On a related note, where has the dictionary functionality in Sherlock gone? If I typed a word in Sherlock, its dictionary entry used to appear at the bottom on the search results, but no longer. Do I need to do something in MacOS Sierra to reenable this feature? Thanks.

Please open dictionary , press command + comma select the first two boxes and download the dictionaries , wait for a minute , you will see a bar starts loading , let it be completed and in the last it will be vanished .

Close the window , you will see .

You can use desired dictionaries .

Open dictionary application, under the file menu you will see the open dictionary folder.

Copy and paste your *.dictionary file there.

Then, open dictionary and press "command + , " find and select your dictionary file.

Command + comma ... I would have never have know that, thanks!

I added a new dictionary and all the Sierra ones 'disappeared' , but now back again 🙂

Command + comma is used to open application preferences , some use in another way take the cursor on top menu bar , click on application then preferences .
