I've been trying to reinstall os x through system recovery mode and it stayed there trying downlod additional data for more than 17hrs and this with me having a 6mbps connection. Is there any other way to reinstall el capitan without loosing data and applications?

Reinstalling OS X 10.11.x El Capitan can be reinstalled through the internet connection, or it can be reinstalled from your Time Machine backup. If you have a Time Machine backup, just connect that external hard drive the to computer.
Any time you reinstall the operating system, there is a risk of losing data, so it's always a good idea to have a backup of your data before starting.
You might also want to move the computer to a location where there is a faster internet connection.
I don't have a time machine backup... I also dont know any other place with a faster connection. Is there another way to do this ?
Unless you have a bootable clone on an external hard drive you can boot from, you need an internet connection. There is no other way to download anything from the internet.
It is a very large file and, with a 15 mbps connection here, it takes more than 1 1/2 hours here. Using Command + R, you use local recovery and you should not lose any files - although it is always advisable to have a backup. If you use Internet Recovery - Command + Option + R - and erase the hard drive before reinstalling the OS, then you will lose everything.
I would try to pause the download and sign out/back in to the app store and then try again.
I do have the ability to make a bootable externa drive since I have the setup files individually and had downloaded it before. But I was told that if I install it through an external drive my data will be removed completely... is that not true ?!
If the bootable clone is an exact copy of your current system, then you'd be cloning the same thing back that you have now. It wouldn't make much sense to do that.
Let's start over: why are you trying to reinstall the OS?
I think my bootable drive will be 10.11 and my mac is running on 10.11.2... is that a problem ?

Umm it's a long story... I wanted to install Sierra and since apple's servers are crappy I tried downloading it from a third party website... I actually though sierra is just an application like any other bringing siri into mac... I wasn't aware that it's a whole OS version ! (I know silly me π )... The file that I got from that website had some .pkg files and I installed the biggest one, thinking it's just and application, after that my mac doesn't boot properly, it goes to login screen after about 2min (usually it goes there in 15secs) and I can't even move the cursor in there I can't do anything... I reset the NVRAM it didn't work either... so here I am...
Well, I would say that you will need to erase your drive. Why? Because you downloaded it from a third party which makes it a bootlegged copy. The only legal and safe source for Mac OS is the app store and there is no way to know what exactly is on your hard drive.
What year is your Mac? I would suggest that you use Internet Recovery (if that works on yours); once booted into it, use Disk Utility to erase your hard drive and then reinstall the OS from scratch.
I couldn't install that version I got from the other website... It wasn't installed it just damaged the OS...
It's like the latest macbook version I think it should support anything, MJLT2.
But my problem is that I can't really download such huge files from internet using apple servers it takes so long to download, apple's downloaders don't use the whole internet bandwidth...

Unfortunately, Apple is the only place where you will get a legal copy of the OS. Even if it wasn't a pirated copy, I would not trust any site other than Apple. How about you go to a cafe or your nearest Apple store - they've been known to share their fast connection and allow you to download it there. At this point, that might be the only sensible solution anyway: book at appointment at your nearest Genius Bar to see if they can help with the mess you're in and download the OS. Not knowing what the damage might be, you will most likely have no choice but to erase.
Babowa is exactly right on this one. The Mac OS Sierra you downloaded from a third party website was probably not offered from that website out of the goodness of their hearts. It is very likely that they wanted to also have the opportunity to offer you whatever it is they are selling, and what better way to do that than to package adware / malware in with your download?
I understand that you want to preserve your data, but in this case, Babowa has laid out the most logical path toward resolution for you. The only other option I see would be for you to contract the services of a data retrieval company.
I'd mark this one down as 'lesson learned.'
I used my LTE connection to download the thing from apple as you said (40mbps, took about 2hrs) it was a very expensive download but it was at least done.
Now there's another problem πππ
It boots normally, shows the login screen, when I click on my user and enter pass, it fades into a black screen for 1sec and then shows the login screen again π what the heck is that ?! the same thing happens when I click on guest.
What should I do πππ I'm seriously depressed πππ
I know I know lesson learned... I got it from apple now and has the problem I said in the above post... any advice now ? ππππ
