IPad mini blank mail screen

ipad mini 10.01. MAIL PROBLEM

I am on holiday in Innsbruck, Austria from U.K. connected to 3AT

Been having no problems but iPad mail screen has suddenly gone blank and I can do nothing on it. Problem is that email is also not coming through on iPhone either. Don't know what to try next. I did try to get apple help but had to log on to Austrian version and they said it was a 3AT problem. I think it is an apple mail iPad problem. Am off to Italy for the weekend so if it is a provider problem then that might resolve if I am suddenly connected to a different one..

Hi there grannystew!

Thanks for bringing your question about Mail on your iPad mini and iPhone to the Apple Support Communities. I love traveling and being able to have access to my Mail wherever I go, so it's my pleasure to help you today.

You mention that Mail isn't coming in on either your iPad or iPhone while you're on cellular. My first recommendation would be to update iOS as you're on iOS 10.0.1 and we've recently released 10.0.2.

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Once you've updated your iPad and iPhone, I'd like you to update carrier settings.

Best wishes and have a great trip!

HI Brendan

Thank you for your help. Sorry did not have any time in Italy to work on this but now back in Austria. I have updated but iPad mail screen still quite blank. I am receiving emails on my iPhone from gmail and iCloud but not from my main provider, Wightfibre in the Isle of Wight. If I can sort anything out with them I will try but it still does not explain why the screen is blank.

Hello Rosemary,

Thanks for the updates! Since the iPad is still unable to receive any Mail and shows up as blank, let's try to back it up to iTunes and then factory restore your iPad.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings
Once your iPad is set up as new, go ahead and put your Mail settings in. In case you're unsure of your Mail settings, you can use this handy link. If your Mail service provider isn't listed, be sure to check with them for the proper settings.
Mail Settings Lookup
Be sure to verify the Mail settings on your iPhone as well.
Enjoy your travels!
