Q: Setting up a wired network

Here is my problem:

my old aebs died and I bought a new airport time capsule. It connects to a China telecom router for Internet Connectivity through the WAN port. it then needs to connect three wired network ports to the livingroom, bedroom, and study. In the livingroom and bedroom I use airport express units to provide wireless access points.

In the study I connect the Ethernet connection to a 1Gb switch. My iMac and my NAS connect to that same switch.

The airport express units are set in bridge mode.

The only way I get the time capsule unit to distribute Internet is by setting it in bridge mode. Unfortunately this does not allow me to use the Ethernet connection on my iMac For Internet connectivity. Only wifi works. That is too slow for me.

The 1G switch works because my iMac can read the NAS.

The china telecom router and it's settings were not changed.

How do I need to set up my time capsule and my iMac to get the desired connectivity?

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

I suggest that you consider configuring all of your base stations into a roaming type network, if not already configured as such.

    In a roaming network:

    • All base stations must be connected back to the "main" Internet router by Ethernet.
    • All base stations must be configured as bridges.
    • All base stations must have a unique base station name.
    • All base stations must broadcast a Wi-Fi network that use the same network name and wireless security type & password.
