Hi,
I have got a Macbook Pro A1286 with 10.6.8 from a friend and he asked me to update it to the newest OS.
So I read already, that the Macbook is not compatible with sierra.
Is it right, that I cant get an older OS (like El Capitan) in the App Store?
Which is the latest OS for this Macbook? I cant find any information about this. I only found compatible devices for sierra.

A A1286 is a 15" MBP that can be from late 2008 through mid 2012.
If it is 2009 or older, El Capitan is the newest OSX that will be compatible. If it is 2010 or newer, Sierra will be the newest compatible OSX.

I have not looked in the App store but El Capitan should be available because it will be required for pre 2010 MBPs. At least that is my thinking. I am not aware of any other source for El Capitan.
