Q: iPhone screen locks during Maps navigation iOS 10

Hi,

I am using the Apple Maps navigation constantly. I think it is far superior than Google Maps and even my car's built-in Nav. I have iPhone 6 with iOS 10.

Ever since the update to iOS 10, whenever I use the navigation, the screen locks automatically after 60 seconds. So when it is critical for me to look at the screen during an important intersection or an exit, the screen is locked, and I have to unlock it. This resulted in missing quite a few exits and almost got in an accident. It makes the Maps app VERY dangerous.

This was not the case with the iOS 9. The navigation screen stayed ON all the time if I didn't Lock the phone. Please, please, please fix this.

If anyone else has something to share related to this topic, please do so.

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Community! I understand you're having trouble with the display of your iPhone turning off when you're using the Maps application. I can understand wanting to make sue that you're able to use this app as expected and I'm happy to provide some direction.

The first thing I recommend trying is to restart your iPhone.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

You can also try to remove the Maps app and re-install it
Remove built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS device with iOS 10

Thanks brenden.

I tried all that and it seems like it is happening mainly when I receive or make a call during navigation, then it starts locking even after the call.

I updated to the 10.0.2 and now it seems to be working as it should.
