Q: Looking for male to male 3.5mm

I'm trying to find a cable which will take the sound on my iPhone and send it to iPad mic to record it. Both have the same 3.5mm jack. I'm wasting time on this and wonder if anyone could give me a link to a cable. There's also the question of whether the music exported from the one (as if it were going to earbuds) would be routed to the microphone of the other. Thanks for any help.

    stereo would become mono

     

    best bet is to get a splitter which have the apple version of minijack 3.5mm mini jack into 2 female one mono mic input and one stereo audio output get 2 of those one for iPhone and one for the iPad and then 2 normal 3.5 minijack male and cross them so audio goes to mic in
