Sep 24, 2016 10:35 AM in response to markfromcappoquinby FatMac>MacPro,Assuming you want to go to a newer version of OS X, that's an upgrade, not an update, and the upgrade would be obtained from the App Store. If you're having trouble getting the App Store to work, you may need this update for improved App Store compatibility with Snow Leopard.
The current version of OS X is now macOS Sierra, which has just been released. It might be advisable to visit the Sierra Community before upgrading. I just did and there are at least 10 pages of posts just for today dealing mostly with user problems.
