Pages '09 (4.3) with Sierra?
Hi
Before I upgrade to Sierra:
Is it possible to continue using Pages '09 (4.3)?
(I still need it for my documents which contain bookmarks!)
Many thanks.

VikingOSX, are you not having the issues with Spell Check and Proofreader that I (Proofreader does not work. SIerra/Pages '09 v4.3) and others have been experiencing? Did you have them, but found a solution? Thank you.
Technically, Pages '09 v4.0.3 should have been updated to v4.1, or v4.3 for compatibility with Mavericks onward. Peter and I both have Pages '09 v4.3 installed on macOS Sierra 10.12.2, and you can too if you download and install the iWork 9.3 updater. Of course, the proviso is that your iWork '09 DVD installation is not corrupted, or missing dependent components that were installed in System areas. The updater does not reinstall those frameworks. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US |
I was using Pages '09 and due to a beachball issue had to wipe my drive and do a clean reinstall
I dragged Pages '09 into my applications folder and then dragged one of my Pages'09 documents onto it and Sierra told me this version of Pages cannot be opened.
I work with a partner using a Macbook 2008 that runs 10.6.8 and cannot upgrade beyond that system (been tried)
So I really need Pages to work.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
thanks
Doc
And you told us in a new post, that you were still using Pages '09 v4.0.3, an ancient piece of code, not Pages '09 v4.3 that works for the rest of us on Sierra 10.12.2.
There are at least two threads on this subject in this forum. In both of them I have said the following:
I've been using Pages 4.3 & Numbers 2.3 without issue in Sierra for a couple of months.
Thanks, sounds good! (I was just worried because of this list:

You did the right thing. You came here, and got the facts from those with the real knowledge.
I can also mention that Pages '09 v4.3 works for me on macOS Sierra, too.
I have replied to that list that Pages 4.3 & Numbers 2.3 have been working without issues for me in my everyday use in Sierra for at least the last two months.
Not so fast. I am finding that the Spellcheck box is a different size when used in Sierra. The "Change" button is no longer visible, and you cannot scroll to it. This makes Spellcheck useless.
There is one issue that has come up.
The Spell Check window is short at the top which is awkward but apparently you can click and grab in the middle top and drag it down.
Peter
I am unable to reclaim that Spell Check window layout with mouse gestures, or resizing the panel. This is a macOS Sierra framework problem that Pages '09 is not reacting properly too.
Attempts to fix the UI issue:
No change in panel
No change in panel
No change in panel
Although I have a proper Spell Check panel in Pages '09 v4.3 on El Capitan 10.11.6, I only have a macOS Sierra 10.12.1 machine, and no 10.12 installation to verify if it broke things or not.
Clicking and dragging does not solve the problem for me.
I updated to Sierra yesterday. Since then, the Proofreader does not work. No other issues yet.
I was using it fine until I installed the the 10.12.2 update..now it won't let me open the app and says it's not supported...I have 10.12 on another mac and it works fine....very odd.
If yo.u want to upgrade from Pages 4.1 to Pages 4.3, search for iWork 9.3 and download that. It will update Pages 4.1 to Pages 4.3 and Numbers to Numbers 2.3.
