Q: Final Cut Pro X iPhone import problems

Recently when i have been shooting video with my iPhone (6s) I have had problems importing to FCPX. When I plug it in and press import it only loads part of my phone library, with the most recently clips not being available as part of the selection for what to import. Any suggestion on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Are these photos in iCloud or on the iPhone itself?

On the phone itself. The only way I can get them off the phone is by airdropping them in small quantities to my computer. It works, but its a very slow process. Other than that they don't show up anywhere.
