Q: iCloud Issues, macOS Sierra

Hello everybody,

I downloaded and installed macOS Sierra from the App Store but ever since install, am facing issues with iCloud on my Macbook Pro.

System Preferences has hung but all other apps open, close, and function properly. I tried force shutting SP, but without any response.

What must I do? Is this worrisome?

Cheers,

Vinayak.

    Fix Non-Working Sierra Installations

Try each of these in order. Test to see if the computer is working properly:

    1. Reset the PRAM
    2. Reset the System Management Controller (SMC)
    3. Start the computer in Safe Mode, then restart normally. This is slower than a standard startup.
    4. Repair the disk by booting the from the Recovery HD. Immediately after the chime hold down the Command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears. Choose Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the the side list.  Click on the First Aid button in the toolbar. Wait for the Done button to appear. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu. Restart the computer from the Apple Menu.
    5. Reinstall OS X by booting from the Recovery HD using the Command and R keys. When the Utility Menu appears select Reinstall OS X then click on the Continue button.

What makes you think this is an iCloud problem?

    Addition details would be helpful.

    Hi Allan,

Thanks so much for reaching out.

While installing Sierra, I was notified of an issue with connecting to the iCloud server, but the process completed anyway without any further hiccups.

As I opened System Preferences, the app automatically directed me to iCloud which has been stuck for close to half an hour now. To be sure that no other apps were affected, I opened Chrome which is, as you would believe, running perfectly.
