Q: how to free up drive space in Bootcamp

I'm running out of space on my Windows C drive in Bootcamp and I'd like to know if there is a safe way to eliminate files and free up some real estate .

I understand that there is a Disk Clean Up program that can be used in Windows 7 but would like to find out from someone who has used it if it is ok to use.  Not  being that familiar with Windows I tend to be over cautious when it comes to deleting stuff.

I've used the Add/Remove Programs Feature to get rid of the more obvious stuff but there has to be other less obvious files lying around that I could dump.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

You could resize your Boot Camp partition to make it larger. DO NOT USE DISK UTILITY to resize the Boot Camp partition. Use CampTune instead. How large is your Boot Camp partition?

As to which files you can remove, you can remove all your data and programs not used. Do not use so called "clean up" programs. Use the program uninstall program as you did.

    This is the recommended method:

    1. Backup your Windows system.
    2. Use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the Windows partition and rejoin it to the OS X partition.
    3. Use Boot Camp Assistant to create a new, larger partition for Windows.
    4. Install Windows.
    5. Restore your backup.

Alternatively, you can spend $20.00 for CampTuneX which does not require removing the Windows partition.
