Q: Airport (advanced portforwarding help(long post))

this is a long story but didn't know where else to write it so here it goes. first of all, you should know I'm normally quite tech savvy but this problem makes no sense. The whole thing started when I wanted to setup a Minecraft server on my spare Linux machine I just had laying around, so I get everything configured and set up to run on LAN as you would normally do, it works I can play on it from my desktop which is a windows machine. So I start the port forwarding on the apple airport extreme, it's newest model I think or seccond newest i dont remember but its running firmware 7.7.7.(as in this post https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3414) anyway I follow the instructions and gave it a permanent local ip(tried both 10.0.1.109 and 10.0.1.201) and port forward it normally and setup an exception for the firewall on my Linux machine but my when I check if the port is open with any of the open port checker tools u can find by google it says its closed (ofc I did run the server while i tried this so it was listening). my friends couldn't join either and I tried joining from the external IP but couldn't either. I thought that was weird so I tried making it the default NAT something as I read that was what you called a DMZ. But amazingly still no ports open, then I completely disable my Linux firewall and see if that helps but no. At this point I really don't know so I think it may be my Linux build that's ******* or something so I try running off another windows laptop I have and do every step port forwarding adding to DMZ and disabling windows firewall which should leave me totally open to hacker attacks but guess what the ports are still ******* closed. I don't know if it is your end, maybe the modem I got which is a fiber line one from Fibia which it says it just disables everything when you have your own router(comes with a built in router) I also tried getting into that by reading the default gateway but ofc I didn't get in. So it doesn't really make sense that it's my modem and the only other thing that can cause this would be my ISP but I dought it and I had my machine in DMZ mode and tried a bunch of ports still wouldn't do anything. So my best guess is your firmware is ******* up somewhere. please help, or just respond if u have any info that can help.

Some ISP modem / routers have ports blocked as i have seen in the past, mainly DSL ISP's.

Give your ISP a call and ask them to open up the port from the modem and see if that does the trick.
