iOS 10 music plays silent

Hi,

After downloading iOS 10.0.2 on an iPhone 6Plus 128gb I am unable to play any music without a full reset each time.

All sounds work on apps and general functions and the music app indicates that the song is playing but volume control produces no change to the silence.

Hard reboot of phone will allow the music to work again but after closing the music app, only way to get sound back is a hard reboot again.

I have tested the speaker and as I say all steps followed from other similar topics (reinstalling software updates, bluetooth on/off)

Attempting to use beats wireless headphones fails also for music, but works for all other sound producing apps. Obviously I can reboot the phone every time I want to play music but it's getting quite frustrating now. Any advice?

My partner has a problem very similar. We live in a place of poor network reception, and it may be relevant in our case - she can start the music app playing, but if she goes to adjust the playlist (add something new, change what's playing) the app will go totally silent. It continues to pretend it is playing and the progress bars advance etc. This is all with music local to the phone - there is no streaming or other network dependent stuff happening here.

_Only_ a phone reboot will fix the problem, and like the OP above, other apps have working sound at the same time.

Music is a core use for her phone, and since the iOS 10 update this is a very frequent issue.
