Q: Photos Agent using battery

Hello,

Recently "Photos Agent" has been using lots of energy, and I cannot pinpoint why. It shows up under "apps using significant energy" and is making my fan go berserk and my computer feels like it's about to melt. I checked all the iCloud settings, and Photos is not using iCloud at all – at least it shouldn't be (somehow it is, which is also starting to annoy me, seeing as it was never set up in the first place).

I can't see that it's iCloud, and it's not doing anything between iPhoto and Photos because I deleted iPhoto, so what could it be?

MacBook Air, macOS Sierra (10.12)

Most likely (given no details on your system) it is the People scan - it is slow and is best done with the computer connected to power

    What is the People scan?

I have the same problem. iClould is also not using Photos at all on my computer. This has been going on since I updated to Sierra. My computer is usually connected to power, but this process keeps coming up.
