Deleting reading list entries.
I cannot get rid of unwanted reading list entries. there is no x in the top right and the items will not swipe. I am on Yosemite 10.10.5
MacBook Pro (17-inch), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Highlight the item in the Reading List column. Hold down Control Key. Click on the item and options pop up. Select Remove Item. Yes, I know. Why didn't they just least the X in the corner?
Many thanks. It works (as you know). I think the reason they didn't leave the X in the corner is the reason they change a lot of stuff they didn't need to. They think that change automatically makes something better. Instead of thinking about what would actually make something better.

Sometimes I get this sense as well. Maybe sometimes it is a transition—You are still two OS X behind. In the new macOS Sierra, the highlighted items in the reading list are deleted by swiping left (much like Mail.) So brace yourself.
