OS X Upgrade

I'm currently running OS X 10.10 Yosemite. I haven't needed to upgrade to 10.11 or 10.12 yet as none of my software needs to current OS X's. How do the new ones compare to Yosemite? I know that I'll have to eventually upgrade as software suddenly requires the latest OS X, but until then, I'm curious on your thoughts of El Capitan and Sierra vs Yosemite.

Thanks,

-Adam

Best thing to do is try it out. If you have an external drive with a large amount of space you could partition it

so you can install the new OS to it. Once downloaded the Installer app should start and when it asks you which disk you want to install it on select the partition you made on your external.

To check if your third party apps are compatible you can check here https://roaringapps.com/apps?platform=osx

use the search field on the right to locate your apps.

Once you have downloaded Sierra, and before going ahead with the installation, look in your applications folder for Install macOS Sierra.app, make a copy of it for safe keeping.
