Apple ID Issues

Hi so I wanted to talk to Apple support about this but I can't find their email anywhere and it's almost 2 am so I can't call anyone, so I'll just post it on here until I can call. So I just got a popup on my iPod saying that my Apple ID is being used for iMessage on a new iPhone, but no one knows my password and I don't even own an iPhone rn??? Also right when I got that popup I received an iMessage from a number that I've never seen before in my life and the message is in an Asian language, but I'm scared to open it bc I've heard of people receiving texts and then once they open them their device gets hacked. I already changed my Apple ID password and updated the security questions but idk if that's enough? Also when I go on to where you can see what devices are using your ID it only says my iPod and the laptop I'm on rn so I have no idea what's going on. Should I open the message or just delete? Any help would be very appreciated.

In addition to sberman's excellent advice, I would suggest you also might want to look in to 2-Step, or 2-Factor protection for your accout.

Is using 2-Step Verification or 2-Factor Authentication something that would be viable for you:

TWO STEP VERIFICATION

I use Two Step Verification, and with that system, you have to generate app-specific passwords that are unique for applications that are don't support using the verification code method. Both Two Step and Two Factor use App-Specific passwords. Both Messages and FaceTime require these app-specific passwords, so seems like those types of apps that may be vulnerable to the sort of hack you saw today, would be far better protected:

If you decide to go with one of these additional security layers, be sure to read the Support Articles thoroughly. With this sort of protection, a recovery of any sort is involved. And, with Two Step, If you lose your Recovery Key, you won't be able to get back into your ID. So, just read through them to see the pros and cons.

Cheers,
