Double tap home button to lower screen not working

Go to Settings > General > Accessibility and scroll down to Reachability. Make sure it is enabled. I then did a quick restart of the device & the function is working again. iPhone 7, running iOS 11

It’s usually because of the screen protector which doesn’t allow you to touch the sensor properly. Make sure you that your are making enough contact of your finger while double tapping. It will work.

I have never had a problem with this in the past. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 8 Plus, and I have this issue now. If I turn off and back on this feature, there is no change in behavior. If I power cycle my phone, however, it works again for a short while. I will be filing a bug report.

I noticed after I put tempered glass screen protector on my iPhone 7 that I had to make sure my finger made full contact with the entire button on the double tab. If I only used the tip of my thumb it would not work for this feature.

Maybe it's because the .3mm of raised glass prevents sensor reading correctly.

I still cannot unlock by just resting my finger, I have to push to activate finger print reader regardless of settings.

I have not used a screen protector in 3 years. The screens rarely need them now

It's most likely the screen protector. I had the same problem. Try using your pinky finger to activate Reachability. (Not that this would be a realistic workaround, but just to test). You will probably find that it works (at least better than thumb or index fingers).

Tried to reset, still doesn't work on the iPhone 7 Plus.
