Battery life issue

I have an iPhone 5C, recently downloaded IOS 10, & now in the last 2 or 3 days the battery is draining overnight when the phone's not in use. For example it was on 100% last night & down to 30% this morning. I'm about to go away so can't get into the Apple shop. Should I instal 10.0.2 - I'm reluctant in case it makes it worse, or is there any other solution? My partner has the same model phone, more apps on it, downloaded IOS 10 at the same time & no problem.

Thanks

Janet

louisd13,

Go to Settings > Battery and scroll down to BATTERY USAGE to see the apps that are consuming your battery. If any of the apps have unusually high usage they can be shut down (double tap the Home button, scroll left or right to find the app, then swipe up to shut it down).

As time goes by you should be able focus on the problem apps. Usually it is a rogue app constantly running in the background. You should then be able adjust the settings to the problem app to solve your problem.

Let us know how it goes.

Hello Janet!

I see that your iPhone 5C's battery is draining a bit more quickly than you're used to; particularly while the device is not in use. I can definitely understand why this would be a concern. I'm glad to provide some assistance.

I think you're on the right track with your thought to update to the latest iOS version. I'd recommend that you create a back up of your data, then install the update and see if you still encounter this problem. If you'd like a refresher on how to back up your data, take a look at this website:

Take a look at this resource we have that goes over how to maximize your battery performance:

Also, it may be a good idea to monitor your battery usage to see which apps are using the most battery:

Cheers!
