Q: Contacts not linked to Facebook app

After installing iOS 10 i have noticed when i tap on Facebook id in my contacts it takes me to the facebook profile in safari instead of the app.

    Hello Gromcan,

    Thanks for asking your question about the Facebook ID after iOS 10 here in the Apple Support Communities. I will be happy to offer some options to get this working as you want it to. Sometimes it is just a setting that defaulted back to the original options, and sometimes the apps need to be updated to work with the new iOS version.


    The first thing we want to ensure is that all your data on your device is safe. For the iPhone, you can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article : How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.


    Once you know your data is safe, the next thing you want to do is to open the App Store, and check if there are any updates, specifically to the Facebook app. If there aren't any, the next thing you will want to check is that all the settings in Settings > Facebook are set properly, and if there is one about access through the browser or the app, go ahead and choose the app.


    If you have tried everything, you may need to speak to Facebook directly. They will know the exact settings that will enable this to work in iOS 10, and how their app interacts with the new iOS version. They may also be creating an update as we speak to enable this to work. If that is the cause of this, you will need to wait until the update is released for this to work as you expect it.

    Hello Brenden,

     

    Thank you for your quick response.

     

    My phone makes back up automatically via icloud as well as app updates. Nothing here, unfortunately.

     

    There is nothing about access through the browser or the app and I am sure never was.

     

    I tried to speak to Facebook previously about other issues but I guess i can only leave feedback. Probably cause they have a lot users like me.
