Q: iTunes sync stalls on 1st track - how can I unblock it?

hi, since I upgrated my iPhone 6 to iOS 10, my iTunes sync has stopped functioning. It'll do everything correctly right up until the music tracks start to sync at which point it gets stuck on Track 1 of however many tracks there are.

Occasionally, by downloading an app to my phone and then trying to sync seems to move this along but only worked a couple of times and I'm not able to recreate the scenario. I'm just left with the music tracks not getting onto my iPhone. Everything else in the process works (playcount, creation of new playlists etc).

I'm on a Windows Vista PC

iPhone 6

iOS 10

iTunes version 12.1.3.6

Normally I'd suggest a backup, restore as new, restore backup cycle, but with this combination of iTunes version (forced by Windows Vista) and iOS that probably wouldn't work. You can try these steps instead:

Open Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage
Tap Music
Swipe to the left over All Songs then tap on the red Delete button
Sync with iTunes
