Sep 25, 2016 5:29 PM in response to aspen63by dianeoforegon,In Mail, select to remove both accounts using the "-" sign to remove.
- Mail > Preferences > Accounts
This will take you to System Preferences > Internet Accounts.
Uncheck Mail for both accounts.
Quit Mail.
Go to your User's Library (see below)
Scroll down to Containers.
- Delete the com.apple.mail folder
Scroll down to Mail
- Move this folder to the Desktop (you might need to move to the Trash so Mail does not try to use the data in this folder.)
Open System Preferences > Internet Accounts. Check Mail for your default account. I'm assuming Exchange
- While you are viewing the User's Library so you can watch a new Mail folder be created.
- Open Mail and let your Exchange account download.
Next add your Gmail account in System Preferences > Internet Accounts
(Note if you have mail stored under the local "On My Mac" folders, you need to export them from Mail before you reset your Mail in the steps above.)
Show User's Library
The User's Library folder is hidden by default. To unhide: Select the Finder in the Dock. Under Go in the Menu bar > hold down the Option key and you’ll see the Library.

Sep 26, 2016 10:35 AM in response to aspen63by dianeoforegon,Please post the top portion of your error report. In addition, download EtreCheck. Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here (and recommended by Apple Support personnel) in the ASC to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Sep 26, 2016 10:55 AM in response to dianeoforegonby aspen63,I had a talk with our CIO today and he said he had the same issue. The culprit he said was some Checkpoint software that needs to be updated on my company's side. Don't know what this software is but at least I don't have to meddle with my Macs for now. Thank you, Diane, for your assistance!

Sep 26, 2016 11:37 AM in response to aspen63by dianeoforegon,Thanks for the feedback. Often these little things behind the scenes can cause all sorts of havoc.
In the future, you can test in eliminate Mail by testing in Postbox. Has a demo.
Postbox has a nice interface and includes features like adding DropBox links in a message.
Another option when Mail is acting up is to use webmail in your browser. This is probably the easiest option but the interface is not universally liked.

Sep 27, 2016 1:03 PM in response to dianeoforegonby aspen63,Sorry to mislead you. The problem has nothing to do with Checkpoint software. Me and CIO use different ways to connect to our exchange server. It turns out to be Apple's fault here. Native Outlook works just fine so I'll stick to it until Apple comes out with update for Mail.app.
