Q: Downgrading 4k tv resolution to work with 2010 Mac Pro

Is there a way to downgrade the resolution of a 4k tv connected to my 2010 Mac Pro?

Reason why I ask is that I cannot see the Mac's desktop on the 4k tv but I can see the TV connected on display preferences. I tried adjusting the resolution on the display preferences panel but it didn't do anything.

An important note is that I DO NOT need the TV to be at 4k resolution. I'm totally fine with 1080p.

For what it's worth, the TV is this Samsung:

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

What resolutions are available in Disk Preferences?

DId you depress the Option key and then click on Scaled (if available)?

Try the DIsplay Menu app from the Mac App Store

What does the manual for TV say? I could not find a link to the manual
