Q: Does the macmini split hdmi video from audio using stereo-mini out?

Hi,

I need to play a dvd for the first time next week - for a public event

using mac mini mid 2011, 2.3ghz i5, superdrive, yosemite

using hdmi connector for the video signal out to a vizio tv and...

I need the audio output through the headphone jack (stereo-mini out) to an audio mixer.

 

Is there any problem with this or do I simply select the audio out from the system preferences sound output?

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 2011, 2.3 ghz i5, 8 gigs of ram

I would imagine it behaves the same as my Macbook Pro, where I've done just this - if you plug the lead into the headphones socket it should work without needing to select the output in Prefs. If you check it with headphones you should confirm this. Having a video output running won't affect this.
