Q: How do I use sumif for subtotals?

Do i really have to create a sum if for every category / size I want to subtotal?

Where is an easy to follow direction for this?  Man i'm missing excel right now...

I need to subtotal about 50 different categories, by multiple sizes each.

Thanks!

    Hi Annie,

How much work you'll need to do to create those subtotals will depend on how your data is organized. The formula will be essentially the same for each subtotal. If the data is nicely organized, you should be able to write the formula once, then fill it into the rest of your summary table.

The details depend on how your data is organized and what summary information you want.

Providing a sample data set and a description of the summary information you want from it would make a more specific answer possible. A screen shot of the data table and proposed summary table(s) would also be useful.
