Q: El Capitan & Legacy Photoshop
I installed El Capitan in January 2016. HUGE mistake, as I have not been able to use my Photoshop CS3 since, and I'm an artist. I have lost business as a result of losing Photoshop. El Capitan will not allow me to install the Legacy Java 6, and I'll be damned if I am forced to pay a monthly fee for what I already have, and have Adobe hold my work hostage if I stop paying.
I am afraid to upgrade to Sierra, because this last nightmare with El Capitan.
What can I do to get Photoshop CS3 to work again? If it's not possible, is there another program like Photoshop (and Adobe Illustrator, which also no longer functions) that doesn't charge a monthly fee, to replace it? (I have search for this answer for months, and nothing I have come across has been helpful.)

You need to install the correct version of Java. It's looking for Apple's Java 6.
Old version. Do not use. Java for OS X 2014-001
Current version. Use this one. Download Java for OS X 2015-001
