Q: Apps take ages to open

Hi,

The mac is working fine except few strange issues:

1. Almost every time after waking up from sleep the spinning wheel is having fun for at least 2-3 minutes. If I am lucky it relaxes after a while and let me type my password, one letter every 20 seconds. After the password around 3-5 minutes to relax and let me at last start working.

2. Apps are working fine except when opening them. When pressing on the link, the icon jumps up and down for  1-2 minutes until it decides to open it. That happens almost with every app. I am jealous of people pressing on links and having the window open immediately.

3. Pressing on the right mouse button when pointing a file in the finder takes around 15-20 seconds for the menu to appear.

4.  Why apps are opening in the background? If I open an app that means I would like to see the window opens and get some kind of confirmation. However, in many apps when I open them I need to dive in all the open screens to find the app. Well, that after the icon relaxed from its dance ritual. Even the finder from some reason open in the background.

When not being frustrated from all those "minor" issues, I like the mac. Is it time to say good bye to my investment and open my wallet again?

Your system looks pretty healthy - aside from one issue:

    Virtual Memory Information:

        28 MB    Free RAM

3.97 GB    Used RAM (352 MB Cached)

        173 MB    Swap Used

Under many conditions, 4GB RAM is perfectly fine. But you have so many login items that there isn't any room. Only 28GB RAM isn't ideal. I'd increase the RAM; 16GB would stave off problems as your requirements increase.

This diagnosis is buttressed with this info:

    System Launch Agents:

        [not loaded]    9 Apple tasks

        [loaded]    149 Apple tasks

        [running]    63 Apple tasks

        [killed]    17 Apple tasks

17 processes killed due to insufficient RAM

    System Launch Daemons:

        [failed]    com.apple.sessionlogoutd.plist (2015-08-22)

        [not loaded]    45 Apple tasks

        [loaded]    152 Apple tasks

        [running]    82 Apple tasks

        [killed]    11 Apple tasks

11 processes killed due to insufficient RAM

A total of 28 process were stopped because there isn't enough RAM. That also explains the slow speed and spinning wheels - signs that RAM is bottlenecked.
