Q: Are there any free iTunes offerings?

Are there any free iTunes offerings or does not pay for them all, including iTune podcasts, even those of tv shows?

    Most podcasts are free.

There are also a large number of free apps.

Is it true that the non Apple produced applications are not necessarily safe though? I have heard this.

I downloaded one with relaxation sounds of running water that I thought messed up my computer and when I moved it to trash, sure enough the issues vanished with it.

    Allan,

The apps in the App Store are vetted by Apple, although when it comes to safety you can never be 100% sure.  In the case of your relaxation app, you may want to post a review to let other users know about your experience.

Also be aware that an app is listed as "free" if it has no cost for the initial download.  Many such apps have enticing in-app purchases which can become quite costly.
