Q: Logic not able to load old Alchemy libraries - installer not working properly

I have Alchemy for a while - long before it was incorporated into Logic. I bought the Full version plus a few sound libraries from Camel Audio while it still existed. When moving to a new computer and running the installer for the plug-in, it fails to find my Sound Libraries even though they're in the right place. Any Ideas? Very Frustrating.

I was using the AlchemyMac-1-55-0.pkg to run the installer.

All Libraries and presets are in MacHD - Library - Application Support - Camel Audio - Alchemy.

Also tried MacHD - User - Music - Audio Music Apps - Plug-in Support - Alchemy. But to no avail.

Any help appreciated,

Thanks,

If you're running a version of Logic Pro X that has Alchemy built-in, I recall some issue with running Alchemy in it's old stand-alone product version.

    Hi BenB,

On my other machine (now defunct) it was able to operate with the two of them installed after the update - calling the stand alone version Alchemy-1.

When moving to a new machine and installing Logic X again, it fails to locate the original Alchemy even though it's right there in the same folder as all the other plug-ins. This is very frustrating as I paid a lot for these libraries and the full player and now they won't install. Plus I've projects to complete for a client...

What's going on with this system?

Anyone else experience this problem - find a solution..?

    Thanks,

Solved with great help from Camel Audio themselves.

Hope this helps someone else with a similar issue. Don't forget to restart the Mac to allow the libraries to load correctly.

Installing from a backup made with the CamelAudioInstaller application:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Copy the folder ‘Downloads/Camel Audio’ across to the same location on your new machine

    2) Run the CamelAudioInstaller.app / CamelAudioInstaller.exe on the new machine

    3) Select to run the installer in ‘Offline Install’ mode and then select ‘Install All’ / ‘Update All’ to extract everything to the correct location. If you wish to install to a non-default location, you can change the location for the Alchemy data folder / VST plugin files (Windows only), in the ‘Preferences’ tab of the installer.

    Backing up an existing installation:

    ----------------------------------------------

If you didn’t complete a full backup prior to July 7th 2015, but you have an existing installation, please follow these steps.

To copy an existing installation across to a new machine, you will need to copy the plugin files and the data folder to the same locations on your new setup:

    1) Backup your data folder to a suitable location such as a USB stick:

    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Camel Audio/

    Windows: C:\ProgramData\Camel Audio\

    2) Backup your plugin files:

    Mac Audio Unit:   /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/

    Mac VST:   /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/

    Mac RTAS:  /Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/

    Mac AAX:   /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/

    Windows 32-bit VST:  C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins\

    Windows 64-bit VST:  C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins\

    Windows RTAS: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins\

    Windows AAX: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\

Installing from a backup made from an existing installation:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Restore your data folder to the folder indicated in step (1) above.

    2) Restore your plugin files to the folders indicated in step (2) above.
