I am trying to download iTunes to Windows 10 and get these two messages:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
And...
The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.
Can anyone please help?

I have tried many of the suggested remedies but to no avail. I suspect mainly due to my ageing tech ignorance. Alas, I truly struggle with 'computer speak'.

Judging from the first post a repair of Apple Software Update may help.
Does it say what component is on the mystery network resource?

I downloaded Apple Software Update and then tried iTunes again, but to no avail.
Earlier, while uninstalling Apple and iTunes stuff, I came across and old folder (12/11/2012) called 222iTunes, and when asked to uninstall replied, The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Could this be causing problems?

Not heard of a 222iTunes before. Try the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall utility mentioned in note 1 to the second box.

I employed the utility you mentioned in note 1. It rid my machine of the old 222iTunes folder. Now, the latest iTunes has smoothly downloaded. Now my wife and I will search for some old tunes from the 60s and 70s that we may enjoy in our dotage.
To you and ChrisJ4203 this must have seemed a mundane issue. All the more reason I thank you again for your much appreciated help.

Did you install it from a copy on a local share?
You're quite welcome. However, I never consider anything when it comes to technology mundane, since it can manifest itself differently for all persons. Enjoy your devices and your music. I'm sitting here listening to oldies as we "speak".
Please excuse my tech ignorance Joe but I have no idea what a local share may be.
I asked Explorer for iTunes download and obeyed instructions.

I meant to say from Network share. A network share is a drive letter to a share windows folder on a server.
Did you install by downloading the setup from a web browser?
Did you ever clean out your Windows Temp folder?
