What if you are connected to the wifi but your phone is not sending the blue bubbles for IMessage?

I Have been using my iPhone for quite a while and this has never happened but recently someone has tried to use my Apple ID for their IMessage And I changed my password but now that this has happened I am no longer able to

send messages in IMessage with wifi. It only lets me send messages with my phone number, so it uses cellular messages.

iPhone 6s, iOS 10

Has the other user of your iMessage account signed out of iMessage on that device?

One final thing to try before you visit the Apple Store, see if setting it back to factory settings, without using any backup afterwards, will let you send iMessages again using Wi-Fi.

Set up your personal details manually and see if you can connect to Wi-Fi and send iMessages.

Did you check the settings for the firewall on your computer? Certain ports should not be blocked, otherwise iMessage and FaceTime will not work via Wi-Fi:

About firewalls

Some networks use firewalls for security. Firewalls block certain Internet traffic from entering or leaving a network. Internet traffic moves through a firewall using ports. To use FaceTime and iMessage behind certain firewalls, you might need to ask your network administrator to enable these ports:

FaceTime

  • 80 (TCP)
  • 443 (TCP)
  • 3478 through 3497 (UDP)
  • 5223 (TCP)
  • 16384 through 16387 (UDP)
  • 16393 through 16402 (UDP)

iMessage

  • 80 (TCP)
  • 443 (TCP)
  • 5223 (TCP)

Depending on the NAT configuration for your router and network, additional ports might be used to send and receive video. Some router features and configurations, such as port mapping, SIP dropping, or dynamic opening of media ports might interfere with FaceTime and iMessage. Contact your network administrator if you need help with port forwarding.
