White blurred border (frame) on lock screen

In MacOS Sierra the lock screen creates this blurred white border (frame) around the background image. Is there any way I can turn that off? For the first time in my life I hate to looks at my mac at this point in time.

I had this happen to me after updating to 10.12.3. At the same time, Safari got a little wonky on me as well. I just reinstalled macOS (reboot, press cmd-r at the startup sound, then click 'reinstall macOS'), and it removed the white border on the lock screen and Safari seems to have cleaned up also.

I don't know what the white border is supposed to mean (if anything), but reinstalling the OS removed it. Thankfully.

Same problem on my MacBook Pro, cloudy white edges. This is after almost a month after updating to 10.12.3.

I tried to wake the the MacBook from sleep and it wouldn't come back up after trying for 10 minutes. So I did a hard shutdown and then booted up. I got the cloudy white edges on my screen after it booted. Couldn't fix/track down the problem. Ended up restoring from the latest time machine backup before the problem happened. So far it hasn't reoccured.
