See Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support if not sure. Have you enabled HDMI-CEC on the TV? It will be called *link or *net. Every maker has their own name.

try holding the home button from your ATV remote for 5 seconds - do you see any change now ?

Sep 25, 2016 6:26 PM in response to Diana.McCallby vashisth_b,its the apple tv 4th gen with siri remote.. the tv does turn on but screen stays black like nothing is connected to it .. i have not looked into HDMI-CEC, will it be found in the settings menu?

So....was it working or wasn't from the buttons before ?

Sep 25, 2016 8:36 PM in response to D_@_nby vashisth_b,It worked when I unplugged it and plugged it again.. and also when I press home and menu button for 5 seconds.. but it was supposed to work by just by pressing any button on the remote .. I will check the HDMI CEC when I get back home later today ..
