It's more than adequate for me but I doubt that it is for most. One thing you might want to do is see how much space you are using on your current computer.

I work part time for an independent Apple reseller. From the beginning all of us in the shop felt that 128GB was too small except for specific uses such as a second computer in the home. Now based on several years of experience we strongly advise buyers against purchasing the 128GB system. We’ve had way too many customers come with with their 128GB notebooks asking for upgrades or trading in their small SSD system for a larger one. Many try limping along with an external drive but most aren’t happy. With users today storing digital photos and other forms of media 128GB just doesn’t cut it.

If you don't intend on doing very much with a new laptop it is probably enough.

As other have been observing, it really depends upon what you want to do with the computer.  If you are web browsing or writing papers it is plenty.  If you start amassing a digital media library with photos, music, movies, 128 GB is nowhere near enough.  That said, if you really start a large digital library you really are starting to talk about a much larger drive than anything you could afford in a MacBook Air and perhaps a completely different computer.  It's like buying a car and if you want a sports car you are not going to find one that can also carry half a ton of lumber.  I think it would be wiser to at least step up to a 250 GB drive which unfortunately you will have to do at Apple's prices since it is no longer possible to do post-purchase third party upgrades on most notebooks.
