Q: iPhone 6s plus won't charge in car after iOS 10 update
iPhone 6S Plus 128G, iOS 10.0.2
This past week, I updated my iPhone 6S Plus to iOS 10. It was working perfectly fine and I thought the new features were great. However, now my iPhone does not recognize my car charger. The USB Charger that I use to connect the cable is made by Belkin and the cable is by Apple. I also have a non-apple cable. After connecting my phone, it will charge a little and the battery indicator would turn green, but within less than a minute with the message "This accessory may not be supported" appeared. I tried unplugging and pluggin it back and the same thing would happen.
I also have an iPod that I use in my car that i have not updated to iOS 10 when this happened. The iPod was working fine. I figure it was just something wrong with iPhone and maybe the connector was dirty and I used compressed air to clean that out. Nothing happened. Long story short, I also updated my iPod to iOS 10 and the exact same thing happened. The same message appeared.
I finally called Apple support today and even after a re-start, re-instal and re-set settings, the problem persisted. I was told that it might be my Audi that needed a software update. I will have to call AUDI and check with them. But i have another car that is not an Audi, and the exact same thing happened "This accessory may not be supported" so I don't think its my car or the cable. I honestly thing that this is a software bug.
I have an open trouble ticket right now.
ANYONE else experiencing this issue after updating software to iOS 10?
