Q: Computer keeps rebooting at startup

This Summer my Mac (3.1) behaves very strange;

When I start in the morning, it reboots (by itself) 2,3 sometimes 4 x every morning I start.

The interval varies, between maybe 30 sec and 10-30 min max.

After that, it runs all day - till night without a hitch.

I have to admit, we still have summer with high humidity.

And the problem started this summer.

When I boot up, I let it settle for a while, but still it reboots.

I wonder, what could cause the rebooting?

My guess is hardware....?

I have connected 4 Drobo drives, but I don't think, they could be the problem.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), 14 GB RAM, 4 TB HDD, 3 Drobos

    •   Note the time of the next unintended reboot. After rebooting open the Console app in Finder>Applications>Utilities and look for log entries at the time of the reboot. Post suspicious ones here.

Look before the log entry that starts with BOOT_TIME since that is the first line of a bootup

Sorry, I misunderstood.... just the lines before the BOOT_TIME.... to see what triggered the reboot.

    Ok, how many lines above?

    Thank you for your suggestion.

The only problem is, I use the Mac only to work with my Drobos.

If the drobos are not connected I would not need the Mac, because my main computer is a PC.

But I will talk to the Drobo and also the CalDigit will see what the suggest.

I want those devices disconnected to help troubleshoot the problem.

I agree disconnecting them permanently is not a likely solution.

    Update:

this morning I removed all drobos which are connected to the 2 CalDigi cards + an open enclosure which are all USB 3.0 connections. I kept the other Drobo connected which uses iSCSI.

The Mac is now on for about 1 hour and has not rebooted.

In order to pinpoint the trouble, I will then start to connect one at the time and see, when it starts rebooting.

I really appreciate your suggestion, because I was looking into a far different direction. (mostly suspected RAM problems-because sometimes when reboot, the power-on light is flashing and there is no boot-but that happen very seldom). Also, I thought, maybe the high humidity could have created that problem.

I have problems with USB 3.0 ever I bought my Drobos which are USB 3.0.

I bought my first CalDigi card, which always disconnected my Drobos, after that I bought the CalDigi Pro. That is more stable now. But I have 3 more Drobos by now. And the toaster which I need for data transfer to 2.5" and 3.5" drives.

Maybe that causes the problem...... The only other solution I could think of, just use the CalDigi Pro and an AC USB 3.0 hub. What would you suggest? I need the Drobos, because there are all my videos on.... and they getting more! (This is not my private video collection, but 5k videos I am producing.)
