Q: Export to Youtube/Vimeo Color Totally Washed Out

I find that after exporting my videos from FCPX to either youtube or vimeo, the coloring is totally washed out. I've tried playing with the exporting settings but nothing seems to work. I've also tried exporting it through Streamclip as well. I don't seem to experience the same issue with imovie, but after taking a movie I made in FCPX and putting it into imovie and exporting from there, I experience the same color issues. It is clearly a problem with the color I am seeing in FCPX. When I export to Quicktime, the color is great and is exactly what i see in FCPX. As soon as I upload to youtube I see a color difference and its awful.

Any help?

    OS X and FCPX versions?

    What Mac are you using?

If not an iMac, what monitor?

What are the Monitor settings in System Preferences?

This is not a known issue, as many of use have not seen this behavior.  Do you do any color grading using the video scopes?

What device are you viewing this on after uploading to YT.

Whatever issue you are running into you do not need to buy a third party converter to resolve it.

Also, what Ben said. YT is such a widely used destination for FCP work that if this were a format compatibility problem, these forums would be flooded with questions about it.

I'm using OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 on my macbook pro.

    The fcp is 10.2.3

And yes I've used color grading in FCP but it all seems to go away when I upload to youtube.

In system preferences my desktop is on Color LCD, but even when i change this to something else like Generic RGB, the color difference to youtube or Vimeo is still an issue. Are there other monitor settings I should change?

I'm watching the videos on youtube/vimeo on the same computer I created them on. I also tried watching them on a different computer and they look the same way- almost grey and washed out. Screen Shot 2016-09-26 at 9.15.05 AM.pngScreen Shot 2016-09-26 at 9.20.14 AM.png

Update: I found that the videos only look this way when viewed in Chrome. In Safari they look totally normal. Very strange.
