Q: Syncing of Purchased Music doesn't correctly transfer to IOS devices

I have several old purchased albums in my iTunes library on a MacMini running MacOS 10.10.5.  When I sync them to various IOS devices (iPod Nano 5  1.0.2 Mac., iPod Touch 4 IOS 6.1.6, iPhone 4S IOS 9.3.5, and iPad 2 Air IOS 10.0.1), several of the songs when playing will terminate early.  Not all of them mind you, but several songs on different purchased albums.  The problem doesn't seem to affect ripped CD's, only purchased music.  It also does not appear to affect newly purchased music, only music purchased several years ago.  The music within iTunes on the MacMini plays fine.

One attempt I made to "solve" this problem was to import a burned CD copy of one of the albums which overwrote the purchased items.  This actually worked for this particular album, but there must be a better solution.  This would seem to point the finger at the playlists on the MacMini, except that they play fine on the MacMini.  I don't really know how many purchased albums this affects although I've run into the problem with several of them so far.

From what I can tell from other discussions, this seems like it may be an on-going issue, although some of the discussions indicate that the problem occurs on ALL of the music, either purchased or ripped.  In my case, the problem seems to be confined to purchased music and music that was purchased several years ago.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I can offer some help - but can't guarantee a solution.

I have noticed that Apple-purchased albums or tracks don't sync when they were purchased with a prior Apple ID. If you no longer have a particular Apple ID, there's a chance that the songs purchased with this ID won't sync - because they're from a previous account ID.

I don't know how to "merge" Apple IDs - or even if it can be done. That's why I prefer to purchase CDs: you can rip the original music at as high a quality you want, you have the original art work, and the price is sometimes better.

Nope, I'm still using the same Apple ID.  These albums were originally bought with an eMac running 10.5.8, if that matters.  When I got the macmini I tried to sync the two machines, but the 10.5.8 eMac wouldn't support the transfer.  I had to manually copy the files, which while it took a long time, it was ultimately successful.

I tried deleting the playlist from my library on my iPad.  I then downloaded one of the songs that wasn't syncing properly.  The song when played on the iPad cut off with 1:22 left to play, going silent until the end of the song.  It would appear that even though I am syncing from the MacMini to the IOS devices, some of the songs that were originally downloads, are being download from "the cloud", even though they physically exist on the MacMini.  I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that the songs I'm having problems with are corrupted in "the cloud".
