Q: Mac App Store.app shows I need Update but will not download

Mac App Store.app Shows I need Updates. But when I click the Update button it will not download the Update. It shows the progress bar, but does nothing. I must have done this 100 times in the last 20 days.

    Hi jgilbert3,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

I see that you're trying to install updates on your Mac but they don't download. I can suggest some troubleshooting that may help get your updates installed.

First, make sure you don't have any paused updates in the Purchased section of the Mac App Store. For more information on interrupted downloads see Troubleshooting the Mac App Store

If downloading an app is interrupted

Once an Internet connection is reestablished, your purchased downloads should automatically restart. The Mac App Store may alert you that there was an issue with the download and ask if you'd like to restart the download(s). Confirming will restart all pending downloads.

The download time will vary according to the file's size and your Internet connection speed. Refer to this article about iTunes Store purchases or more information about download times for large files.

Next, make sure you're signed into the App Store. See Mac App Store: Sign in and out

If downloads still don't start, try again while starting in safe mode or a new user account on your Mac. For help with this process, you can follow the steps in How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.

    Sincerely.
