Q: Logic pro x (10.2.4.) Keeps hanging while bouncing

Hello everyone

I've got a really weird issues with Logic Pro X. It worked fine yesterday but today I can't seem to bounce anything offline or in real-time.

The weirdest thing is that Logic will bounce and show the blue progress bar, it even sends out the audio to the folder but it just keeps hanging after that. Sometimes it will come back after a long period of time but it just isn't working like it should.

Any suggestions?

I'm running Logic Pro X 10.2.4 on a early 2013 MacBook Pro (2,7 i7 16gb DDR3)

Thanks in advance

George

Verify your drive has at least 15% of it's total capacity left as free space.

What OS X version are you running?

What is the project duration, and how many tracks?

    Just a few thoughts...

    1)  Try to freeze your tracks, one at a time. If freeze works, then Bounce should (technically) work too.

    2) Check whether your sample rate settings have somehow changed. And if they are changed if that has created a compatibility issue (for example if an external audio device is not connected correctly, or has changed)

    3)  The OMG question...  Check that the file format you want to bounce to has a tick mark. Highlighting it does not do it.  :-)

    4) Other than that, I agree with the disk space issue: Logic will first create an uncompressed bounce (I think), then transform it into your desired output format. The temporary files involved can be quite large.

My drive has enough space left (over 60 gb of the 500 gb). When it had just 5gb left it always worked so this shouldn't be a problem.

    OSX 10.10.5

Duration of project doesn't matter. I've tried it with a big project of 5 minutes and 60 instruments as well as just one loop in the stock retro synth plugin in. Both just bounced but than held on to the blue bar.

    Thanks for thinking along

Thanks but freezing and bouncing in place both work. It is the bouncing total that keeps freezing. Just one loop or one plugin with 3 notes ...or a total project with 60 instruments and over 5 minutes. It all freezes. Than again.....sometimes....it works...***.

In your bounce prefs.... do you have both  "Include reverb tails" and some kind of "Normalization" selected?

Personally I never use either... if you have them both selected uncheck reverb tails and move you end time a measure or two later.

Try it, if it works I'll explain... just a guess
