Apple Music not recognising 3rd party Bluetooth headphones

Hi,

Since getting my iPhone 7+ and iOS 10 (now 10.0.2), Apple Music is failing to find my Bluetooth headphones. The headphones connect with the phone itself fine, and in the Bluetooth settings it shows they are connected. But when I go to Apple Music, they are not listed as an output option (only the iPhone is listed).

It appears if I unpair and re-pair the headphones to the iPhone, Apple Music then recognises them. This is a huge pain and the cynic in me says it's Apple passive aggressive way of getting me for spend £££ on a pair of Beats or their ridiculously overpriced AirPods.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks,

DK

Hello darrochkaye,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that your Bluetooth headphones are not being recognized by your iPhone when using Apple Music. Lets start with the basics first and take a look at the troubleshooting here: Get help connecting a Bluetooth accessory with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Also, if possible, you will want to test with a different Bluetooth headset.

Best regards.
