I brought it back to an Apple Store. I was lucky enough to live close to their flagship store in Bellevue WA. Anyway, on my first trip, an associate reset my settings and it worked briefly. By that, I mean, like 30 minutes, long enough for me to leave the store and found out it's not working again.

So, I went back again, and then they told me that Apple knew about this issue and told me that they were going to give me a brand-new replacement smart keyboard even though my keyboard might have been outside the time frame of the warranty BECAUSE this keyboard had been under their quality program.

If this happens to you, don't bother trying to get it fixed. It's no use. Just go to one of the Apple stores and told them that "I heard this keyboard is under your quality program. I don't think it's fixable because thousands of users have encountered exactly the same problem. Just give me a new one." Or however you want to phrase that demand and statement. Because it's true, I have done my research and it shows on THE Apple's official website. Over a thousand people clicked on "I have the same issue." (I don't remember the exact wording on that button.)

I don't know how fast your store is going to admit this problem, but waste your time no more. Ask them to give you a new keyboard. One thing before you go. Look at the edge of the opposite side of the keyboard portion for the SERIAL NUMBER. You and the store are going to need it. Chances are, it's super hard to read it after the keyboard has been in use for some time, so try to read it and get the number at the comfort of your home before you head to the store. Try to tilt your keyboard, use different lighting, you can even try taking a picture of it and change the contrast of the image to figure out the serial number, but they really do need it.

I hope my comment help, and good luck. Go get them!

Didn't mean to criticize, but that link is not helpful at all. What it says on there is for those who is using Apple's product for the first time and the keyboard is working properly. It does not address the issue raised by so many of us, that the keyboard "is not supported by this device." Please, Apple, admit that you made a mistake, recall the keyboard, fix the problem and make us happy customers again.
