Sep 26, 2016 4:14 AM in response to Rss1211by Ella Fitzgerald,Hello, it's a user-to-user forum. Of course, a lot of people who can't upgrade to new iOS would like to keep adding developed features to the old one. I understand you, but, unfortunately, now new features will be added to iOS 10. If you have some suggestions you can contact Apple http://www.apple.com/contact/

Sep 26, 2016 6:14 AM in response to Rss1211by Boyd Porter,I cannot check, but i think Apple supports two or three versions back from the latest release with security updates. If that is correct, iOS 9 will receive security updates until iOS 11 or 12. iOS 9 will not receive any feature updates.
Have a nice day.

Sep 26, 2016 7:12 AM in response to Rss1211by Michael Black,Nobody here has any insider information on what Apple may or may not provide in terms of support for any previous iOS release. You will simply have to wait and see if or when anything further ever comes out for iOS 9. Any direct answer that anyone gives here would be pure speculation. You and the rest of us here will only know if or when Apple actually announces or releases something.

Let's not sugar coat this issue.
It's possible, but Apple hasn't issued security updates for a previous iOS version for a long time.
The last time I remember Apple doing this was a security update to iOS 6 (iOS 6.1.6) when iOS 7 was released.
But that was a long time, ago.
At this time, it is what it is.
No one knows if Apple will do anything with the previous iOS on devices that Apple has halted for future iOS upgrades.
Typically, when Apple halts an iDevice at a certain iOS version, that is IT, DONE, NO MORE UPDATES WHATSOEVER.
You are not the first one to own an iDevice that Apple has discontinued iOS support for.
All iDevices have had an end of iOS life at some point.
iPad 2 has had a good run compared to some older iDevices (thinking the original 2010 iPad that Apple ended its iOS life after only 1 year).
Anyone with an iPad 2, 3 and 1st gen iPad Mini has gotten 5 years of iOS upgrades and updates and these iPads will continue to function as always for, at least, another full year, perhaps two years.
Good Luck to you!
