Clipboard became completely messed up

Hi guys,

I've been working with a lot of text lately and copy/paste has always been a bit twitchy, but today this simple process descended into a complete chaos.

If I go to Finder > Edit > Show Clipboard, it's empty and if I CMD-C something in Pages for instance, it doesn't update, BUT I can still paste it into Safari search bar, or Notes, for example.

If I CMD-C something from TextEdit, the Clipboard reads the text, but I am able to copy it back into TextEdit only. BUT get this, if I paste to Safari search bar, or Notes, it pastes what I previously copied from Pages (even though Clipboard reads what I previously copied from TextEdit).

It's like Clipboard became locked to specific software.

I tried relaunching Finder, which successfully empties the clipboard, but doesn't fix anything else.

I also tried shutting pboard in Activity Monitor, which does the same as above.

After rebooting the Mac, it works for a few tries, but then it's all in **** again.

Please help😟

EDIT: Oh and you are not allowed to type H E L L, which is what the **** are...did I miss something?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), null
