Q: iCloud child account keep separate from parent?

After upgrading to an iPhone 7, I want to give my iPhone 6 to my daughter. I created an iCloud child account for her on our family plan. That basic part seems to work, but many things aren't working so well and I'm not sure if it's my lack of understanding or a box I forgot to toggle.

I want her to have a unique FaceTime, iMessage, Game Center (optional) and iTune Music. Right now all of these are using the primary account - mine. My primary issue - I'd much rather her classmates user her Apple ID for Messages and Facetime. Also, Facetime doesn't even appear to be working. Second problem is that my iTunes cloud library is in her Music app.

Is there a way to do this with a child account? Or do I have to lie and create a real account for her?

    HI there, nudoru!

Thanks for reaching out via the Apple Support Communities. Congratulations on your new iPhone 7! It sounds like you'd like to give your daughter your old iPhone 6, but want to make sure that she can use her own Apple ID for all the services, like iMessage, FaceTime, and the iTunes and App Store. That's definitely a possibility, and I'd be happy to help!

First, check out the following article, which prepares an iOS device to be given away or sold. It will help ensure your information is removed from the iPhone 6, so you can set it up with your daughter's.

What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once that's all been done, you can then go through the following article, signing in with your daughter's Apple ID when prompted.

Get started with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

After her iPhone 6 is set up with her Apple ID, you both can take a look through this article to get some more information related to Family Sharing, including how it works in general as well as how you can manage her account.
