Oct 7, 2016 9:58 AM in response to waldobirkby papester,The release version of Sierra has the problem. Running it on a VM will not resolve the issue. The issue seems to have been fixed in Beta 3 of 10.12.1.

Oct 8, 2016 6:29 AM in response to papesterby J G Low,Thanks for the info on 10.12.1. I have installed the Beta version and can confirm that the Java based problems I was having with MoneyDance have dissapeared and I have not encountered (so far) any other problems in the few applications I have which use Java.

Oct 9, 2016 2:45 AM in response to SC::UKby strad23,It's strange, if you go on pressing caps or lock caps keys, after 4-5 attempts and pressing "continue" every time, it starts working normally...

Oct 9, 2016 1:13 PM in response to strad23by ericacm,Hey - you're right! It took more like 20 times for me but eventually it started working.
Another tip - if you are stuck trying to enter your password because pressing Shift triggers the bug, try this
- Copy your password onto the clipboard
- Hold down the Command key
- With Command still pressed use your mouse to press Continue to clear the error dialog
- Press v to paste your password and then press Enter

Oct 10, 2016 5:49 AM in response to HK_Phooeyby MrBigBear,I have a solution form my employer (uses HOBlink) that worked for me. Under System Preferences > Keyboard, hit the Modifer Keys button. Then change the action for the caps lock key to "no action" and save it. then change it back to "caps lock" and save again. Bizarre - but worked for me.

Oct 14, 2016 7:24 AM in response to eapfelstaedtby Jim143,I have the same issue with Blackboard chat. Chat will open, and I can type in the text field, but the minute I use the shift key or any special key (option for cut/paste), it crashes. I am running Java Version 8 Update 101 (Build 1.8.0_101-b13.)
I have attached the screen shots from the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have 9 more weeks of class and need the chat function desperately. The issue only happened when I upgraded to Sierra on my (2013) MacPro 13 w/retina - (another one with an i7)
