Duplicate Alarms in Apple Watch?

Since upgrading to the latest watch os I am getting two alarms when I set my timer. The first one is the regular one notifying me that the timer is done. Then about twenty or thirty seconds later I get another notification that the alarm has ended! I use the timer app a lot and simply cannot abide these extra notifications? I've tried to find out how to stop them, but have not been successful.

Any idea how I can get this second notification to quit notifying me?
