Q: Bluetooth Controls not working in Sierra

I have a pair of SONY BTN-200 Bluetooth headphone that were working fine with Spotify on El Capitan. However after upgrading to Sierra, pressing pause or skip instead opens iTunes. The pause and skip keys on the keyboard work fine with Spotify.

Any help would be appreciated.

FWIW, it might be worthwhile to contact SONY support seeing it's their product.

As I said it was working fine prior to Sierra, which would suggest that it is the latest OS that is causing the issue.

It's possible that changes in Sierra cause the controls to no longer function. The reason I suggested contacting their support is because they may have an idea why and if anything can be done. Certainly it's doubtful Apple will rewrite Sierra to accommodate one brand and model of headphones.

Previously the issue has affected various models and the community has provided a solution. Unfortunately the solution suggested does not appear to work with Sierra.

Well perhaps a solution will be found again. Sierra is rather new so it might take awhile.

I have the same issue but with my Plantronic BT600's. Was working fine in El Cap, not so much with Sierra. Volume works, but controls fail.

    BTW

I turned on bluetooth debug and checked the logs.

And as I see, everything fine with my headphones, system receives play, forward, backward key presses, but do nothing with this.
